The Bulgarian Business Leaders Forum's General Assembly, held on May 28 at Grand Hotel Sofia, saw elections for three Board members and financial controller.

Ivaylo Penchev, Walltopia General Manager and Petеr Velev, Ecopharm CEO, are the new leaders on the BBLF Board. They are replacing Petya Dimitrova, CEO of Postbank and Prof. Veselin Blagoev, Deputy Dean of International University College, whose terms have expired.

Vasko Raichev, Chairman of Deloitte Bulgaria, and Gilbert McCaul, Partner at KPMG, were reelected as member of the Board and financial controller, respectively, for new 3-year terms.

The new and the reelected Board members undertook to work for a sustainable society in Bulgaria, improve the business environment by promoting good practices, contribute to a better dialogue between business and the state administration, build a positive image of entrepreneurship and encourage the values of responsible business, according to a media statement of BBLF.

BBLF Chairman Iravan Hira congratulated Board members as well as the present representatives of socially responsible companies in Bulgaria.

"Thank you for your support both at this election and for all our projects over the last year. Hopefully, they have had their positive impact on the community," he stated.

The event's official guest, Michael Davidson, Deputy Head of Mission of the British Embassy, greeted the attending BBLF members on behalf of British Ambassador to Bulgaria Jonathan Allen and outlined the role of the Forum in promoting transparency and responsibility.

He pointed out the long-term collaboration of the British Embassy and the BBLF, founded with the help of Prince Charles, on numerous projects.

"I think the business world offers us an opportunity to look at the world not as it currently exists but as we hope it to be, and that's particularly true with some of the companies represented here who embrace transparency, open working and collaborative approach to staff, partners and society," he declared.

Besides the new and reelected members, current Board members include Iravan Hira, Chairman and General Manager of Hewlett-Packard Bulgaria, Zoya Paunova, Deputy Chairperson and CEO of AstraZeneca Bulgaria, Maxim Behar, M3 Communications Manager, Ivan Vassilev, TNT Bulgaria Manager, Kamelia Slaveykova, Shell Bulgaria CEO, Maria Shishkova, Managing Partner of AIMS Human Capital and Dale Carnegie Training Bulgaria, Nikolay Hristov, Dundee Precious Metals Chelopech CEO, Stefan Apostolov, CEZ Razpredelenie Bulgaria CEO, and Vesela Ilieva, CEO of Unique Estates, part of AG Capital.
