Bulgarian Kostadinka Kuneva is largely expected to enter the European Parliament as MEP from left-wing party Syriza.

The Bulgarian trade unionist, who became a victim of an acid attack in Athens in December 2008, will be one of the six MEPs of Syriza.

She was backed by 9,677% of the votes of the supporters of Syriza, emerging fourth among the party's MEP candidates, according to reports of news.bg.

It is still unclear whether she will take up her seat as an MEP or give it up to the next candidate on the list of the party headed by Alexis Tsipras.

According to preliminary results of the European Parliament elections, the winner Syriza is followed by ruling party New Democracy of Prime Minister Antonis  Samaras is second, with 5 MEPs, followed by far-right Golden Dawn with 3 MEPs, Elia, KKE and To Potami 2 MEPs and Independent Greeks 1 MEP, according to news portal ekathimerini.com.

Kostadinka Kuneva, who was Chair of the Federation of Cleaners and Maid-servants in Attica District, became a victim of an acid attack in Athens on December 23, 2008. She suffered serious injuries on her face and body and went blind in one eye. The perpetrators of the attack are still unknown. It is assumed that the attack is linked to her active work as a trade union leader.
