Bulgaria's Election Results Under Scrutiny: Is a Recount on the Horizon?
Following the parliamentary elections held on October 27 in Bulgaria, questions have arisen regarding the possibility and timeline for a potential recount of ballots
Tuesday is the deadline for parties, coalitions, and independent candidates to register for the European Parliament elections in Bulgaria.
So far 18 parties, 6 coalitions and 5 nomination committees have registered in the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), Novanews.bg revealed. On Wednesday, CEC will draw the positions for each candidate on the ballots.
A scandal erupted earlier this month when it became evident that some parties had falsified the signatures in their registration petitions by using personal data of citizens who were not aware of this. However, to the moment there have been no charges pressed and CEC confirmed that it does not have the capability to investigate the matter in the short period leading up to the elections.
On May 25, Bulgarians will vote for 17 representatives to send to the European Parliament.
