Oktay Enimehmedov, who attacked the honorary lifetime Chairman of DPS Ahmed Dogan in 2013, will seek to enter politics.

The 25-year-old who on January 19 last year pointed a gun at Dogan while he was delivering his resignation speech at a party conference, was firm he had taught the ethnic Turkish party's founder he was "not that intangible".

Speaking for Bulgaria's Nova TV, Enimehmedov set out plans to join Bulgarian political life in order to serve "the people's interest".

"I want to be an MP or an official dealing with state affairs," Enimehmedov said in an interview, the full version of which is to be aired on Saturday.

He underscored that he did not feel any humiliation by politicians turning a blind eye on him. "[Politicians] now ignore me, after some time it might be me that will ignore them," he declared.

Among the most controversial comments within the excerpt of his interview came when he acknowledged, "I cannot conceal I would like to see generals of Turkish origin in Bulgaria in tne future."

He did not specify the exact meaning of his words.

In mid-March Sofia Appelate Court ruled that Enimehmedov should be placed under house arrest. Immediately upon leaving prison, he also showed readiness to become a politician.

Prior to the court's decision, he had been sentenced to 3.5 years behind bars by Sofia City Court after being found guilty of a death threat and acquitted of attempted murder.
