Bulgarian Black Sea Association will demand of the state to stop access to “illegal camping sites” along the sea coast, such as Karadere. 

In a letter to the media the organization, which claims to represent the interests of the coast towns and investors, expressed its concern with the hygienic conditions at those unregulated camping sites and said they posed threat to public health. 

“We demand that the state checks all illegal camping sites along the coast and limits the access to them, particularly in Natura 2000 zones” wrote the association, which gained notoriety with its campaigns against the Black Sea coast construction moratorium. “For years at such camping sites gather drug addicts and drunks who litter. Tourists use the bushes as toilets and leave behind fecal matter and tissues.”

According to Bulgaria's Constitution, the beaches are exclusive state property and the access to them is free for all. Camping is generally not allowed everywhere, but is not explicitly forbidden either. Restrictions are strictly imposed only for national parks.

A serious problem, according to the association, was also the lack of infrastructure, such as toilets, showers, running water and garbage collection. 

Earlier this year the same association sent a letter to Bulgaria's Chief Prosecutor and alerted him that the environmentalist protests against the construction in the Strandzha nature park were “dangerous subversive activities, which threaten the legal order and the constitutionally established state system.”
