Bulgaria's Parliament will hold an emergency sitting on Tuesday to discuss the presidential veto on the new Election Code.
The parliamentary committees will hold sittings on the matter on Tuesday morning and the veto will be put to a plenary discussion in the afternoon, according to reports of mediapool.bg.
Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev imposed a partial veto on the new Election Code, opposing the inefficient provisions on the introduction of a preference option, the abolition of electronic voting, the rules to appoint the Central Electoral Commission and the cumbersome procedures for calling referendums. He also vetoed provisions containing a technical error in the methodology for the distribution of mandates at parliamentary elections.
Overcoming the veto requires the votes of at least 121 MPs, which the ruling Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), liberal party Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) and nationalist party Ataka can secure.
