The semifinal lineup for the men's ice hockey competition at the Sochi Winter Olympic Games has formed two exciting regional clashes.
The first semifinal will see Scandinavian giants Sweden and Finland face each other for a place in the final. The Finns, who knocked out the hosts Russia in the quarterfinal, will look for revenge against their western neighbors for the loss in the Olympic final in 2006.
In the north-American semifinal, reigning Olympic champions Canada will play the United States in a repeat of the 2010 Vancouver Olympics final. The Canadians will need to improve their performance from the quarterfinal, in which they barely beat underdogs Latvia 2-1. The US, meanwhile, has been in top scoring form throughout the tournament.
Both semifinal matches will be played on Friday.
