A bilateral meeting on the dispute over transit traffic permits between Bulgaria and Turkey will be held on February 21 in Ankara.
"Following repeated requests by Bulgaria for a bilateral meeting, Turkey officially confirmed that such a meeting will take place on February 21, 2014 in Ankara," Bulgaria's Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications said in a statement on Saturday.
Earlier on Saturday, Bulgarian Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski said that he had agreed with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan on such a meeting.
During the talks, the two sides are to specify the quotas of onetime transit traffic permits and to discuss a number of other issues of mutual concern.
Bulgaria's Transport Ministry reminds that bilateral relations with Turkey in the sphere of automobile transport are governed by an agreement signed in Ankara on April 16, 1977.
The media statement also reminds that Turkey declared invalid the permits granted to Bulgarian carriers on January 30, 2014 and Bulgaria responded by declaring invalid the permits granted to Turkish carriers on February 1, 2014.
