Jordan`s King Abdullah II will spend the weekend in Bulgaria on an official visit during which he will sign three cooperation accords and meet with the country`s former monarch and now prime minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg, the presidency announced on Wednesday. The Jordanian monarch will be accompanied by his wife Rania and Foreign Minister Abdel Ilah Khatib during the visit on Saturday and Sunday, President Petar Soyanov`s office said. He will sign three accords boosting cooperation between Bulgaria and Jordan in the areas of culture and education, air travel and health. The royal family has developed a friendship with Saxe-Coburg, who met with Queen Noor, the wife of the late king Hussein, only two days after winning elections in Bulgaria. Saxe-Coburg, who went into exile in 1946 after the communist takeover, was sworn in as prime minister of Bulgaria on July 24, becoming the first former monarch to take office in Eastern Europe. A distant relative of Queen Elizabeth II of England and King Albert of Belgium, Simeon II set up a political movement in April that won 120 of the 240 seats in parliament during elections in June.
