Bulgaria: Stop Protecting the 'Unknown Perpetrator'

Can you imagine what would happen in any other country in Europe if someone attacks a police officer with fists?

Would that someone still have an MP immunity if he has been involved in dozens of criminal incidents – waving a gun on a highway, entering Parliament with a gun, stirring a scandal with a flight attendant over meatballs on board a Lufthansa aircraft, attempting to flee a Brussels restaurant without paying the bill, staging spectacles on streets, beaches and in hotels?

As a result of the latest scandal, this time during a Sofia-Varna flight, Ataka leader may be stripped of his immunity and charged with hooliganism and causing a slight bodily injury. During the flight, Siderov harassed a French cultural attach? and disturbed the passengers with his shouting. One of the passengers dared reprimand Siderov. After the plane landed, the Ataka leader attacked that passenger with fists, and later hit a police officer.

The pre-trial proceedings are against an unknown perpetrator because of Sideorov’s lawmaker immunity. One hopes that the “political umbrella” over the MP would be lifted before the “unknown perpetrator” goes on a killing spree against his constituents.
