Playboy Bulgaria Makes Frontpage News

The Bulgarian edition of Playboy made frontpage news Thursday, 31 October, with a picture and a story dedicated to six air-hostesses from the national air-carrier Balkan Airlines who posed nude for a noble cause.The story made the frontpage of the 24 Hours, the second largest circulation national daily newspaper in Bulgaria. The paper reports about the exclusive photo-session The Women of Balkan scheduled for the December issue of Playboy, Bulgaria. In a direct takeoff from The Women of Enron story in Playboy, USA, the Bulgarian team organized a photoshoot of six air hostesses from the company, which was being sent into receivership. On October 29, Sofia court gave green light to declaring Balkan Airlines bankrupt. "We wanted to show the best that Balkan airlines had - their human potential," said Anthony Georgieff, editor-in-chief of the Bulgarian edition. The electronic media immediately took up the story under the motto "Let us save the beauties of Balkan." The Bulgarian government decided to set up and subsidize a new airline company. All former Balkan employees will be offered jobs in the new company, said a government official.
