State of Emergency Declared in Nedelino as Power Outages Hit Villages
A partial state of emergency has been declared in the Nedelino Municipality by Mayor Boyan Kehayov due to power outages affecting three villages
Bulgarian tobacco growers are planning protests for January due to a delay in the purchase of their production.
The mayor of Nedelino, Stoyan Beshirov warned that tension is running high and tobacco growers can take to the streets anytime. Beshirov has been trying to calm them by promising to speak to the Agriculture Minister, reports the Bulgarian National Radio.
The Agriculture Minister is expected to meet with representatives of the firms which have contracts for buying tobacco production, later on Thursday.
Between 80 and 100 tons of tobacco remain to be bought out only around Nedelino, the mayor specified.
He gave a deadline of January 10 for the firms to start paying out for the tobacco.
