Bulgaria’s State Commission for Energy and Water Regulation (DKEVR) has confirmed its head Angela Toneva has resigned, citing stress.
Unofficial information however says that Toneva, who was appointed as the regulator’s head in June, has stepped down as a result of outside pressure on DKEVR to reduce electricity prices starting 2014.
Another possible reason could be the new 20% tax on renewable energy sources, with which she apparently did not agree.
Toneva has not yet commented on these reports.
