Bulgarian livestock breeders threaten to block the Trakia highway on Tuesday, as a form of protest against unpaid subsidies.

The head of the Parliamentary Agricultural Commission, Svetla Bachvarova, warned that breeders are planning to block the highway for outstanding payments under EU subsidies, reported Darik.

Bachvarova also revealed that starting next year, firms not involved in livestock breeding, will not be eligible for subsidies for pastures. The law will not apply for those, who have already rented pastures and receive EU funds.
