Bulgarian champions Ludogorets Razgrad earned their second straight win in this year’s Europa League after beating Croatian Dinamo Zagreb 3:0.
This came as a sweet revenge for last year’s dramatic exit from the Champions League, where the Zagreb outfit scored two late goals to oust their opponent.
This time around, Lodogorets dominated from start to finish, leaving no doubt as to who deserves the 3 points more.
Dinamo looked shaky in defense and committed several unforgivable errors. After Junior Quixada had netted a header in the 12th minute, Virgil Misidjan pounced onto a poor clearance from the Croatian goalkeeper and fired a shot from distance into the top corner for 2:0.
After the break, Dinamo had several good chances to get back into the match, but Ludogorets’ goalkeeper Vladislav Stoyanov was alert and made some crucial saves.
All hopes for Dinamo ended in the 61st minute when Svetoslav Dyakov made the most of yet another misunderstanding between the Croatian defenders and scored for 3:0.
Ludogorets are top of Group B with a maximum of 6 points, and yet to concede a goal. PSV Eindhoven and Chernomorets Odessa share the second spot with 3 points each, while Dinamo sit bottom with 0.
The Bulgarians’ next Europa League fixture will be a visit to Chernomorets Odessa on October 24.
