Bulgaria's Minister of Environment and Water Iskra Mihaylova has complained that the state is underfunding the sector.
She informed that the ministry has amounted over BGN 23 M worth of debts.
“The spending cap for our ministry is the lowest of all, at BGN 44 M. There are other that exceed it drastically, like the Ministry of Interior, spending BGN 400 M. Some of our main projects remain without financing for years”, stated Mihaylova cited by the daily Standart.
The Environmental Minister added that BGN 2.5 M are short for the monitoring of waters as well as for payments of the ISPA program.
