Mass Evacuation Near Burgas After Fire Engulfs Dozens of Houses
A major fire broke out late Monday morning in the "Ostricite 2" villa zone near the city of Burgas, leading to significant property damage and a large-scale evacuation effort
Algerian refugees were the people who set the fire that burst on Monday in Southern Bulgaria, near the Turksih border, the Bulgarian Interior Ministry announced.
The 7 migrants admitted they have started the blaze because they wanted to attract attention in order to be found as quickly as possible since two of them felt sick and needed medical assistance.
After receiving medical treatment in the town of Yambol, the refugees were brought back to the Regional Directorate of the Border Police in the southern town of Elhovo, where they are kept in detention.
The fire they set turned into a wild one, engulfing dry grass, bushes and close to 600 acres of mixed deciduous and coniferous forest. It has been fully extinguished.
55 illegal immigrants in 7 groups have been intercepted and detained in the last 24 hours on the Bulgarian-Turkish border by the border authorities of the Elhovo Directorate.
