Democracy mandates a Prime Minister follows the will of the majority, says Bulgarian PM, Plamen Oresharski.

This was the focal point of his message to participants in the traditional meeting of the Bulgarian Socialist Party, BSP, at Mount Buzludzha, held on the last Saturday of July.

The message was read by Defense Minister, Angel Naydenov, who said work-related duties have prevented the PM from participating in person as it was expected and announced earlier.

"The most vocal ones are not always the most righteous; the essence of democracy is to fight for the rights of every single person. I will not be the PM to take away from people their rights and freedoms. I am open for discussion with all of them," Oresharski has written.

According to him, the current freedom of speech in the country is a victory of his government after the 4 years of the rule of the Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria party, GERB, which crushed it and never allowed an opinion different from their own to be voiced.

The PM thanked all Bulgarian citizens, who "don't oppose everything and everyone, have ideas, and are ready to use the energy of society," for their support, stressing it was giving him strength to continue on his path and firmly stick to decision of not resigning as the anti-government protesters demand.

"Every beginning is difficult and so were the first steps of this government. Bulgaria is in a hard situation and cannot endure anymore of the same. There is also a "value crisis," and I am aware of it. Bulgarians are clearly showing they want to make the decisions about their children's future and we will give them this opportunity. This is the time to turn public energy into something constructive. I guarantee fair play for every citizen and every company," Oresharski says.

50 000 BSP members (the official data of the Interior Ministry lists them as 35 000) and followers are holding Saturday their traditional meeting at Mount Buzludzha under the motto "Bulgaria for the People."

There are increased security measures over fears of clashes with anti-government protesters, but no incidents have been reported so far.

According to bTV, the Socialists, on their way to Buzludzha, have been met by demonstrators, who have staged a "mockery" exhibit with toilet paper as a symbol of the government's deeds.

This is the 20th meeting of the party, held at Mount in the Stara Planina range, to mark the 122nd anniversary of the Socialist Movement in Bulgaria and the Day of BSP, August 2nd.

In 1891 on Mount Buzludzha the foundations of the Socialist Movement in Bulgaria were laid. The monument erected at the site and unveiled in 1981 on the occasion of the 1300th anniversary of the founding of the Bulgarian State is shaped in the form of a UFO.

Meanwhile, other Bulgarians have been staging for 43 days now anti-government rallies with demands the Socialist-endorsed Cabinet resigns immediately.
