Boyko Borisov, former Prime Minister and leader of center-right party GERB, has described the decision of EU Foreign Ministers to blacklist the military wing of Hezbollah as an expression of solidarity with Bulgaria.

"The decision of the EU to put the military wing of Hezbollah on the EU terror list not only shows Europe's solidarity with Bulgaria but it also demonstrates that it stands firm on opposing any form of terrorism" Borisov said, as cited by the press office of the Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB).

"I would like to thank all Bulgarian services and institutions which worked with our partners in the EU, US, Israel, Australia, and Canada, not only to reveal who is behind the tragedy at the Sarafovo airport, but also to make sure that everybody in Bulgaria and Europe can feel stronger and more secure today," he stated, commenting on Monday's decision of the EU Foreign Affairs Council to put the armed wing of Hezbollah on the EU's list of terrorist organizations.

The decision comes one year after the July 18 tragic incident at the Sarafovo airport, which killed seven, including five Israeli tourists, the Bulgarian bus driver, and the perpetrator of the attack.

In February 2013, Bulgaria's then-Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov, suggested that the evidence collected by the investigating authorities led to a "reasonable assumption" about the involvement of the Lebanese militant group in last year's terror attack at the Burgas airport.

Bulgaria's current Interior Minister Tsvetlin Yovchev made clear recently that additional evidence had been uncovered confirming the initial hypothesis.
