Bulgarian Minister of Health Tanya Andreeva has named funding, health standards and emergency medicine as three areas of priority for reform in her work.
"From all talks I've held with health center directors, I have been left with the impression that they all have difficulties working with the National Health Insurance Fund," said Andreeva at a press briefing in Kyustendil.
Recently Bulgaria's parliament dismissed the Fund's previous director Plamen Tsekov due to alleged mismanagement, and appointed Rumyana Todorova in his stead.
Andreeva added that within a second priority area, a special group within the Health Ministry will do a thorough review of all standards to streamline the system.
The third policy area inolves restructuring emergency aid to render it both more effective for patients and more attractve for young doctors.
