It would be a historical mistake to bring to the court former Egyptian president Mohammed Morsi, according to Turkish PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who also spoke against Morsi's deposition.

"Four years ago, there was one-party rule in Egypt - a dictatorship. But as a result of democratic elections one year ago the country elected a president with some 52% of ballots. Just one year later, some circles are saying that they are not happy, and the army comes in," commented Erdogan in an interview for CNN Turk Saturday.

"Every politician can make mistakes, but we resolutely cannot accept such military interference," added the Turkish PM, who also in past weeks has had to face significant street protests against his rule.

According to Erdogan, a the reported intention to bring Morsi to court would be wrong, given that he was the democratically elected president of Egypt.

The Turkish PM also added that Morsi, who is currently detained in his home country, has not asked for asylum in Turkey.
