The Trakiya highway in southern Bulgaria, connecting the capital Sofia and the Black Sea city of Burgas, which has been built for 40 years now, will most likely be competed on July 5.

According to Engineer Lazar Lazarov, Chairman of the Road Infrastructure Agency, the highway should be completed by the end of June but due to minor finishing touches will be launched on July 5.

The opening of Trakiya highway will be a spectacular event because for a first time Bulgaria will have a highway that connects Sofia to the Black Sea, Ivan Ivanov, the construction company manager is quoted in saying.

The construction of the highway started in the distant 1974, but was stopped several times due to lack of money. Allocated EU funds made its completion possible. The total length of the Trakiya highway will be 360 km.
