Bulgaria's National Revenue Agency (NRA) has launched a new probe into the properties of former Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov.

According to reports of Sega daily, the NRA found that Tsvetanov had influenced the outcome of the audit conducted in 2011, taking advantage of his position and the fact that then-CEO of the NRA, Krasimir Stefanov was a party activist of center-right party Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria, GERB.

Tsvetanov, current Deputy Chair of GERB, acquired six flats for the period 2007-2010.

Two of the six flats, situated in a prestigious apartment building in the "Iztok" residential district of the capital, had been bought for over BGN 250 000 in the fall of 2008.

The flats had been built by Tsvetanov's best man, businessman Todor Boyadzhiev, whose name was associated with the "Dunegate" scandal.

Tsvetanov also owns a three-storey house in the village of Shuma.

It was reported recently that Tsvetanov had sold one of the flats and was left with a total of five.
