Lyutvi Mestan, leader of the Bulgarian ethnic Turkish Movement for Rights and Freedoms party, said he "never allowed himself" to reprimand the former PM Boyko Borisov for the fact that a firefighter can become a premier.

Mestan also reminded that he had never commented on ex-Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov's past as a PE teacher.

The ethnic Turkish lawmaker's remarks were in response to Tsvetanov's derisive comment addressed at PM-hopeful Plamen Oresharki's proposal of a syntax professor, Mariana Georgieva- Bencheva, for Minister of Youth and Sports.

Mestan further explained that he has been skeptical to Tsvetanov's work as an Interior Minister but has never brought forward the fact he thought physical education before taking care of the security of the country. "Yes, a PE-teacher can be Interior Minister as long as he governs prudently, not thievishly."
