Will Bulgaria Have a Stable Government After Yet Another Election in June? Our Readers Have Spoken
On our Facebook page, readers were asked about Bulgaria's stability after the June elections
Bulgaria's new Prime Minister, Plamen Oresharski, took over the political leadership from his predecessor, the caretaker premier, Marin Raykov, on Wednesday.
"Refusal of revanchism and permanent revolutions is the first pillar of statesmanship. If Bulgaria needs a revolution today, it is to halt the parliamentary revolutions" caretaker Prime Minister, Marin Raykov, said while handing over the leadership to the new PM, Plamen Oresharski.
"I wish the new government a wider social tolerance and trust than the ones I received from the first day of my office. The need for a minimum continuity, in the foreign affairs as well, is another wish. I believe you will not overlook my invocation," Raykov said.
The ex-caretaker PM stated that Bulgaria is in a better condition now than in late February when he took over the country amid wide- spread protests against austerity measures that prompted the resignation of the former-ruling Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria, GERB.
The budget deficit has decreased by BGN 446 M, while the fiscal reserve has incresed by BGN 1 534 000 000, Raikov said.
Oresharski responded that the new Cabinet will work for the Bulgarian citizen's interests so at the end of the four-year mandate "it will announce even better numbers than the ones just heard."
Oresharski voiced hopes that at the end of his mandate "all Bulgarian citizens will have hopes that the route taken is right and will know that by developing their entrepreneurships they contribute to the well-being of the country."
