Bulgaria: 2 Bulgarians Sentenced for Vote Buying

The Regional Court in south-eastern Bulgarian city of Burgas has sentenced two persons for vote buying during Bulgaria's May 12 early general elections.

The two organized a vote buying scheme in the village of Kameno near Burgas, by offering BGN 15-70 per vote cast.

They performed the crime acting in favor of an unnamed party, which did not pass the 4% election threshold.

The main organizer has been fined BGN 9,000 and sentenced to 3 years of probation, while his accomplice got 6 months of probation.
