Tsetska Tsacheva, speaker of Bulgaria's last parliament, will be former ruling party GERB's new candidate for parliament chair, according to newly elected GERB MP Emil Radev.
"It is only logical that GERB, being the party with the largest group in parliament, tables a candidacy for parliament speaker, and it is logical that this candidate will be Tsetska Tsacheva," said Radev in an interview for the Bulgarian National Radio Sunday.
GERB emerged first in Bulgaria's May 12 early general elections, getting 97 MPs out of 240 total.
This is however worse than GERB's results after elections in July 2009, which got the center-right party close to absoulte majority, and allowed it to comfortably hold a minority cabinet with the support of various non-GERB MPs.
This time over, GERB is isolated, with none of the other three parliamentary parties saying they are willing to co-operate with the former rulers.
It is far from certain that this time over the parliament will approve a GERB cabinet and parliament speaker.
In the interview, Radev said that GERB leader and former Bulgarian PM Boyko Borisov is preparing his proposal for a new cabinet.
Bulgaria's new, 42nd Parliament will hold its first sitting this Tuesday, May 21.
