Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova has welcomed the preliminary results of Bulgaria’s May 12 general election in Bulgaria.
“People voted for stability,” Fandakova told reporters on Monday.
“Sofia needs a stable government so that it can develop further,” she said.
Fandakova was elected on the ticket of the center-right GERB party back in 2011. On Sunday, GERB narrowly won the country’s Parliament vote.
GERB won approximately 30.7% of the vote on Sunday, but appears unlikely to be able to form a new government, as all other parties have already declared that they would not support the center-right outfit.
GERB won by a comfortable margin in all districts of the Bulgarian capital.
