The center-right GERB party of former PM Boyko Borisov has won 30.71% of the vote, Bulgaria’s Central Electoral Committee has announced.

With 96% of ballots now counted, the Bulgarian Socialist Party has 27.02%, followed by the ethnic Turkish Movement for Rights and Freedoms (10.59%) and the ultranationalist Ataka (7.38%).

A preliminary forecast for the distribution of seats between the four parties can be read HERE.

No other political parties will to obtain seats in Parliament, according to the Central Electoral Committee.

The populist National Front for Salvation of Bulgaria and the Bulgaria for Citizens movement of former European Commissioner Meglena Kuneva are closest to the 4% election threshold, with 3.73% and 3.27% respectively.

Even though GERB narrowly won Sunday’s election, its prospects of forming a new government appear uncertain, as the other three parties in Parliament have already ruled out a coalition with the center-right outfit.
