A total of nine parties have won a state subsidy after getting over 1% of the votes at Bulgaria's May 12 general elections.

Apart from the four parties which passed the 4% parliamentary threshold, all political formations which scored over 1% at Sunday's general elections are entitled to a state subsidy.

According to preliminary results of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), as cited by mediapool.bg, the parties which won over 1% of the votes at the May 12 elections are: the National Front for Salvation of Bulgaria (3.6%), the coalition "Center-freedom and dignity", which includes the National Movement for Stability and Progress (NDSV) and the party of Kasim Dal (1.3%), the Union of Democratic Forces (1.4%), the Order, Law and Justice (RZS) party (1.7%), the VMRO-BND party (1.9%), the Leader party 1.6%), the Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB) party (3%), the Bulgaria for Citizens Movement party (3.3%) and the People's Voice party of Svetlyo Vitkov (1.4%).

Although it won the elections in Tokyo, preliminary results indicate that the Bulgarian Greens party got 0.7% of the vote, meaning that it may not be entitled to a state subsidy.

At the 2009 general elections, a total of two parties won over 1% of the votes without managing to enter Parliament, NDSV and Leader.

Under Bulgaria's Political Parties Act, the state subsidy amounts to BGN 12 for each valid vote.
