Radan Kanev has announced plans to resign from the position of Deputy Chair of the right-wing Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB) party as the formation appears increasingly likely to not enter the 42nd Parliament.

"I am resigning," Kanev announced in a status update on Facebook.

"It is now 4 am on May 13, the game is over, DSB fails to enter Parliament. I would like to thank all of the people who helped me with all my heart. You deserve more, I am sorry if I let you down," Kanev stated.

He made clear that he would file his resignation from the position of Deputy Chair of DSB in the daylight hours of May 13 and share his thoughts on the future of the right-wing party in Bulgaria.

According to preliminary results of the Central Electoral Commission, DSB gets 3.07% of the votes at the May 12 general elections, meaning that the right-wing party fails to pass the 4% parliamentary threshold and will not enter Bulgaria's 42nd National Assembly.

DSB has not yet issued an official statement commenting on the election results.
