Bulgaria's Commission for Protection of Competition (KZK) has reported a potential breach of competition rules in sunflower oil trade.
The anti-trust watchdog inspected the competitive environment in the production and trade in sunflower groats and sunflower oil, according to a media statement of KZK.
KZK concluded that the suppliers of bottled refined sunflower oil and their distributors had concluded vertical agreements which hampered or restricted competition on the wholesale bottled sunflower oil market.
Bulgaria's anti-trust watchdog found that certain provisions in the contracts between suppliers and traders were aimed at direct or indirect fixing of resale prices and market allocation by restricting the territory of the distributors.
The probe included three separate unrelated vertical agreements between suppliers of bottled sunflower oil and their main distributors.
KZK issued three separate statements of allegations of competition breaches through vertical agreements among the following suppliers and distributors:
- Kaliakra AD, Bunge ZRT – Hungary, Bunge Rumania S.R.L., and their main distributors Gama-Nik-Mitev-2004 EOOD, Teodoro Babarov – Klio Komers ET, D & D Commerce and Delivery OOD, Lucky 2003 OOD, Vuchko 2 - Bratya Vuchkovi i Sie SD
- Biser Oliva AD and its main distributors Familex EOOD, M.M. Maleshkov EOOD, Zagora 2000 OOD, Velizara 2000 EOOD
- Zvezda AD and its main distributor KOOP Targovia Turizam AD
The companies have 30 days to file objections, after which KZK will come up with a pronouncement on the basis of the materials on the case.
