A team of psychologists are counseling Thursday students in the Todor Kableshkov Sports School in the southern Bulgarian city of Stara Zagora after a shooting that broke there a day ago.
The shooting left one man, Koycho Koev, 56, dead. Koev worked as maintenance and carpenter for the school.
Luckily, as the school's windows do not face the crime scene, the young people have not witnessed the murder as they were in class, but some have seen the dead body.
The Stara Zagora psychologists are in constant touch with the principal and are seeking to establish other possible eyewitnesses who would need counseling.
Meanwhile, Stoyan Stoyanov, 30, the suspect in the bloody drama committed suicide after a police manhunt and warnings he was armed and very dangerous.
According to the main lead, the carpenter has been murdered because he has been a key witness in a legal case against Stoyanov.
Stoyanov's body has been found Wednesday evening with a gun wound in the head by a passerby 2 km south of Stara Zagora. A gun has been found alongside as well. Police confirmed it was a suicide case. Media are not allowed at the scene.
There are two cases against the suspect in the local court – for issuing a dead threat and for illegal drugs possession. Koev was a witness in the first case, and has been, most likely, killed in an act of vengeance.
Stoyanov's neighbors describe him as violent and a social outcast, while in Koev's native village locals say he and his family were an example for easygoing and hardworking people. Those in the school also heap praise on him.
The autopsy revealed the carpenter died from a gun wound in the head though he had other bullet-inflicted injuries on the body.
