Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev has voiced his country’s solidarity with US authorities in the aftermath of the deadly bomb attacks at the Boston Marathon on Monday.
“Bulgaria strongly condemns this senseless act of violence that cannot be justified in any way,” Plevneliev said in a letter sent to US President Barack Obama on Tuesday.
Plevneliev declared he was convinced that the perpetrators will be caught and brought to justice.
He extended condolences to the victims’ families and wished a quick recovery to the injured.
The Bulgarian President reminded that his country also experienced a deadly bombing attack last year.
At least three people were killed and over 140 were injured in the two bomb explosions at the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Monday. The explosions occurred at about 2:45 p.m. Eastern Time, more than two hours after the first of the race's nearly 27 000 runners had crossed the finish line.
The US Federal Bureau of Investigations, FBI, and the Central Intelligence Agency, CIA, are working on two main leads in the deadly bombing.
