Dozens Killed in Iraq Bomb Attacks

World | April 15, 2013, Monday // 13:36

A string of deadly bomb attacks across Iraq killed at least 27 people on Monday, according to local authorities.

Over 100 people were wounded in the attacks.

Attacks were reported in Baghdad, as well as Tuz Khurmatu and Kirkuk in the north and Nasariyah in the south.

The co-ordinated attacks occurred during the morning rush hour and mainly involved car bombs, the BBC informs. A total of seven cities were targeted.

The attacks took place less than a week before Iraqis in much of the country are scheduled to vote in the country's first elections since the 2011 US troop withdrawal.

No group has admitted carrying out Monday's attacks.
