Former Bulgarian ruling GERB party is the logical choice for Bulgarians at upcoming early elections, stated EPP Secretary-General Antonio Lopez-Isturiz.
Saturday Lopez gave a joint press-conference in Bulgarian capital Sofia with GERB campaign chief and vice-chair Tsvetan Tsvetanov ahead of the GERB national conference Sunday.
"Bulgaria now needs a stable new government. I have always been supportive of pragmatic voting - that is voting for a party which is able to rule," said Lopez-Isturiz.
"Boyko Borisov is a person well known to everyone inside the EU," added the EPP Secretary-General.
Lopez said that Bulgaria is going through some difficult times, but great progress had been achieved during the term of the GERB cabinet, in contrast with the situation 4 years ago.
"Socialist parties try to work for unity, but their unity is not real," commented the rightist politician.
"The EPP supports GERB, Boyko Borisov and Bulgaria," was Lopez-Isturiz's firm message.
The top EPP functionary explicitly pointed out that any claims that the European People's Party has withdrawn its approval from GERB are unfounded.
