The failure to form a Cabinet in Bulgaria after the May 12 snap general elections would be a bad scenario for the country, President, Rosen Plevneliev, says.

Speaking Thursday at a meeting with representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), the President stressed on the need of high voter turnout in order to prevent holding new elections in the fall, which would lead to further destabilization.

"The new Parliament must begin work ASAP, because we need a functioning General Assembly to launch emergency measures for ending the crisis and adopt anti-monopoly legislation," said Plevneliev.

He assured PACE representatives that they would receive full institutional support in their task to be observers in the election process.

The GERB government of Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, resigned on February 21st, amidst mass rallies against poverty, stagnation, monopolies and wide-spread corruption, and Plevneliev, had to appoint a caretaker one. Bulgarians will vote in snap general elections on May 12.
