Winter Tourism: 1.8 Million Visit Bulgaria
Bulgaria has witnessed a bustling winter tourism season, with a total of 1.8 million tourists gracing its picturesque landscapes from December 1 to March 25
Bulgaria's caretaker Prime Minister Marin Raykov has kindly asked his ministers to pick up their phones 24/7. After all they have made a vow by joining the government and should be available 24/7, just like himself.
The ministers however seem to have more important tasks that the calls by their boss or the preparation for their debut meetings in Brussels. They are too busy with media appearances in flagrant self-promotion.
President Rosen Plevneliev appointed an interim administration a few weeks ago to run the country until a May election. Despite their short stint the ministers give extensive interviews and discuss strategies as if they will rule Bulgaria for at least 10 years.
Nobody expects the ministers to have a preposterously ambitious agenda. What we want to see are quick decisions about the organization of the snap elections.
Instead they even have no intention to tone down their already overly generous promises.
Serving as minister in Bulgaria's caretaker government may turn out to be the best job in the world. The parliament is dissolved, the parties are caught up in a pre-election war of words and the "caretakers", complete unknowns until yesterday, can launch their brilliant careers.
