VRUSHKA CHOUKA CHECKPOINT REOPENED

The Serbian authorities reopened the Vrushka Chouka border crossing to two-way traffic at midnight Friday to Saturday. The unilateral ban on the passage of trucks, buses and vans via Vrushka Chouka as well as Oltomantsi and Strezimirovtsi lasted two days only. The reopening was prompted by protests of Serbian freight forwarders and carriers. The Bulgarian authorities at the three crossings confirmed the reports but said the reopening has not been officially announced. The unilateral measure inflicted losses on exporters and carriers, as they had to make detours, executives of Vidin-based companies commented.
