Bulgaria may lose another EUR 81 M under the EU Rural Development Program, according to sources close to the matter.

The sum is part of EU Rural Development funding which Bulgaria was supposed to absorb by end-2012, according to reports of the BGNES news agency citing EC officials.

In end-January 2013, Bulgaria reported that it awaited reimbursement by the EU for a total of EUR 281 M absorbed in the last three months of 2012.

The EC will reimburse Bulgaria for a total of EUR 201 M but a sum of EUR 81 M is still under question, BGNES informs.

The EC has not yet cleared the reimbursement of the sum in question, nor has it issued a conclusive rejection.
