Volen Siderov, the controversial leader of Bulgarian marginal far-right party Ataka, has threatened that his movement will resort to "guerrilla warfare actions" if right-wing leader Ivan Kostov gets to form a caretaker government.

Earlier on Thursday, Democrats for Strong Bulgaria leader Ivan Kostov called on president Rosen Plevneliev to form a government of experts, instead of offering the mandate for an interim cabinet to the ethnic Turkish Movement for Rights and Freedoms party. Kostov insisted that the president make a final attempt to launch talks and set up a program government of experts, keeping thus the work of the parliament going.

"If Kostov forms a Cabinet, we in Ataka will have to undertake guerrilla warfare actions and launch an armed war," Siderov declared.

Siderov added that the Democrats for Strong Bulgaria party should be dismissed and that Kostov "should be prosecuted."

On February 21, Bulgaria's Parliament approved the resignation of the government of the Prime Minister and his ruling Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria party, GERB, amidst unprecedented since 1997 protest rallies against unbearable utility bills, monopolies and wide-spread poverty that turned into a civil unrest against the political model of ruling the country.

Since the Movement for Rights and Freedoms is expected to reject Plevneliev's government mandate, the President will have to form a caretaker Cabinet.
