Bulgarian ethnic Turkish party Movement for Rights and Freedoms is not interested in forming an interim Cabinet, the party's leader, Lyutvi Mestan, told reporters on Friday.

His statement follows the surprising resignation of Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and his Cabinet on Wednesday.

Bulgaria's President Rosen Plevneliev launched Friday consultations with all political parties after the Parliament voted Thursday the resignation of the Cabinet "Borisov."

After the consulations, the President is required to assign the task to appoint a Cabinet to the largest parliamentary party within a 7-day deadline. If this fails, then the President does the same with the second largest group. If this fails, the mandate is given to a third group of the President's choice.

All groups have now declared that they will decline.

This means that the President must appoint a caretaker government, and then, with one single decree, adjourn the Parliament and schedule a new general election no later than two months after the termination of the powers of the last government.
