Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev has once again condemned the gas pistol attack against former ethnic Turkish leader Ahmed Dogan.

"We will assess the possible harmful consequences of the attack against Ahmed Dogan. Our aim is to minimize the consequences and prevent future accidents like this," Plevneliev said Tuesday.

Bulgaria's Consultative Council for National Security is convening Tuesday to discuss the attack against ethnic Turkish leader Ahmed Dogan and last year's terror attack in the Black Sea city of Burgas. The Council is summoned and chaired by Plevneliev.

Ahmed Dogan, founder and leader of the ethnic Turkish DPS party ("Movement for Rights and Freedoms"), was the target of a gas pistol attack right on the floor of a party conference on Saturday by 25-year-old Oktay Enimehmedov, also a Bulgarian citizen from ethnic Turkish origin. No shots were fired. Enimehmedov was lynched by DPS delegates after the attack.
