The PMs of Libya, Tunisia and Algeria reached an agreement to boost security on their joint borders.
Meeting in the western Libyan city of Ghadames, the three North African leaders said that measures will include common checkpoints and patrols along their exensive borders in the Sahara Desert.
"We would like to send a message that we will not let anyone to use our countries for terrorism, weapons trade, drug trafficking or illegal immigration," stated Libyan PM Ali Zaidan.
The three PMs also committed to meet on a regular basis several times each year, as well as to form a working team for common action with neighboring countries to tackle the ongoing civil war in Mali.
"The crisis in Mali must be resolved via political dialogue," stated the North African leaders.
Recently Libyan authorities closed their southern borders with Algeria, Chad, Niger and Sudan, and imposed a special military zone upon the south border regions of the country.
