Bulgarian Socialist Party leader Sergey Stanishev has completely ruled out the possibility of his party forming a coalition with the ruling centrist-right GERB after the 2013 elections.

Stanishev has stated that GERB is nowhere near to being a traditional democratic right-wing party.

"This is a party that is determined to stay in power whatever the price," Stanishev has told TV7, adding that the whole country has been forced to serve Prime Minister Boyko Borisov's economic interests.

Commenting on the latest scandal involving alleged illegal construction activity in a protected coastal area, Stanishev declared that his three-way coalition government (2005-2009) cannot be blamed for it.

He reminded that it was GERB's former Regional Development Minister and current President Rosen Plevneliev who stopped the planned mapping of coastal sand dunes.
