Bulgaria Advances to Kremlin Cup Semifinals

Bulgaria's best tennis player Magdalena Maleeva made it through to the semifinals in the USD 2.199 M Kremlin Cup tennis tournament. After her sensation victory over top seed Venus Williams (2-6 6-1 7-6) in Moscow 2nd round, it took Magi just about an hour to defeat Nathalie Dechy, France, 6-4, 6-2. This was Magi's second victory over the French tennis player out of three matches. In the other quarterfinal matches Amanda Coetzer, South Africa, defeated Nadia Petrova, Russia, 6-2, 6-1. Lindsay Davenport took final Moscow semifinal place after three- set win over Elena Bovina, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3. Maleeva, 27 years old, will compete for a final place in the tournament with Amelie Mauresmo (5), France, who beated Maja Matevzic, Slovenia, 7-6 (1), 6-3.
