Unknown offenders tried to steal an ATM of First Investment Bank (FIB) in Sofia by pulling it with metal ropes.

The incident happened Thursday night in an office of FIB on Ivan Susanin Str in Sofia's residential district of Pavlovo.

However, the bank alarm went off and the attackers ran away, according to reports of the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) citing police sources.

In October, again in Sofia, an ATM was pulled out of a bank office with metal ropes but when teams of the security company arrived on the spot, the thieves left the ATM in mid-street.

In 2012, similar attempts at stealing ATMs also took place in the western city of Pernik and Sofia's residential district of Banishora.
