The government approved Bulgaria`s participation in the Culture 2000 program of the European Union in the 2001-2004 period. The project is financed under the Phare program and the expenses on the program amount to BGN 220 000 a year.

An ordinance on the major requirements and attestation procedures concerning equipment and security systems for use in potentially explosive atmospheres was approved thus harmonizing the Bulgarian legislation with Directive 94/9 of the EU. The document introduces the standards and conformity assessment procedures used in the EU member states, and will create conditions to eliminate the technical obstacles to trade, ensuring the free movement of goods.
