Recently re-elected Venezuela President Hugo Chavez has announced his cancer has relapsed, and has said his VP Nicholas Maduro Moros should substitute him if he has to withdraw.

In early October, Chavez was re-elected for a new 6-year term at the helm of Venezuela, and this is the first time he has talked of a successor.

In an address to the nation, the President said that it is his "absolute and full" conviction that the people of Venezuela should vote for Maduro if fresh presidential elections have to be called.

Over the week, Chavez was in Cuba to undergo medical follow up medical tests after receiving cancer treatment, and they have revealed that he has metastases.

At the end of June 2011, Chavez announced that he is battling cancer, but July 2012 he issued an address saying he has fully recovered.
