Salaries in the Ministries administrations and in Bulgaria's Council of Ministers have increased by 13% in less than six months, according to a report of the Council for Administrative Reform.

By July 1, 2012, the average wage in the central administration was BGN 763, and reached BGN 865 after the implementation of new rules.

By September 1, 2012, the average salary in the Council of Ministers' administration and in the Ministries was BGN 1 182, which is an increase of over 13%, compared to July.

In State agencies, the increase was 9.3% and the average salary has reached BGN 697 a month. In executive agencies, the increase was 16%.

30 structures have been reformed or closed after August 2009. The number of central administration employees has been decreased by 9 954 while the one of the Interior Ministry – by 6 000, all of which led to the increase in wages.

The new model of determining pay for State servants became effective on August 1, 2012. Under it, additional bonuses for good job performance cannot exceed 80% of the annual salary of the employee. The new pay scale aims at increasing attractiveness of State jobs in competition with the private sector for qualified work force and at establishing small, but effective administration as result.
